Basketball coaching, on the bench

Design plays. Animate them. Run practices. From your tablet.

Quick Plays is a web app built for basketball coaches who want a real-time chalkboard, a playbook that actually animates, and a practice plan their assistants can read at a glance. It runs in your tablet’s browser, installs to the home screen as a PWA, and keeps working when the gym’s Wi-Fi doesn’t.

Free during the v1 preview. No credit card.

What’s in the box

Play designer
Draw tokens, pass arrows, screens, cuts, and shots on a real half-court SVG. Scrub the timeline to see the play unfold. Edit on the spot, no rendering wait.
Animated playbooks
Group plays into books — Core Sets, BLOBs, ATOs, whatever you call them. Tap a play and it animates; tap again and you’re editing it.
Game-day call sheet
Pin your go-to plays. On game day, tap to play, tap to log. The active game tracks every call so you know what worked.
Practice planner
Drag drills onto a time-gridded plan. Export a one-page PDF for your assistants. Re-use plans week to week.
Roster + scouting
Lightweight roster with positions, jersey numbers, status. Opponent scout reports with timestamped notes you can reference mid-game.
Share with your staff
Invite an assistant to edit. Share a play or a whole book with a link — players can study without an account.

Why tablet-first

Coaches diagram on whatever’s on the bench. Most of the time that’s a tablet. Quick Plays is designed for landscape, 1366×1024, tap targets that fit a thumb, no hover state required. It also works on a laptop browser when you’re planning the week — same data, same UI, no separate “coach’s version.”

Install it to your tablet’s home screen and it opens full-screen, no browser chrome. On iPad, Apple Pencil pressure works for sketching.

What it’s not

  • Not a Hudl replacement. We don’t do game film. We do let you attach a Hudl/YouTube clip to a play so the diagram and the tape live together.
  • Not a stats engine. We have light box-score tracking and per-play call logs. If you need shot charts and advanced analytics, pair this with a stats app.
  • Not a video-call coaching platform. No screen share, no live video. Shared playbooks are async.
